Iron
Iron (Atomic No. 26) is the sixth most abundant element in the universe, formed as the final step of nucleosynthesis, by silicon fusing in massive stars. Metallic iron is rarely found on the surface of the earth because it tends to oxidize, but its oxides are pervasive and represent the primary ores. While it makes up about 5% of the Earth's crust, both the Earth's inner and outer core are believed to consist largely of an iron-nickel alloy constituting 35% of the mass of the Earth as a whole. Iron is consequently the most abundant element on Earth, but only the fourth most abundant element in the Earth's crust.

Origin of Natural Iron & “Iron Loving” metals on Earth
About 1 in 20 meteorites consist of the unique iron-nickel minerals taenite (35–80% iron) and kamacite (90–95% iron). Although rare, iron meteorites are the main form of natural metallic iron on the Earth's surface. It was proven by Mössbauer spectroscopy that the red color of the surface of Mars is derived from an iron oxide-rich regolith.

Scientists have long known that there's a mysterious amount of siderophile ("iron-loving") metals in Earth's mantle. Such metals, including gold, tend to affiliate with iron in their liquid forms.
The best explanation has been that some sort of space object brought the elements to the planet just after it formed its core, but the exact nature of the impactor has been a matter of debate.
Based on computer simulations, the new study says that a small number of enormous, random impacts roughly 4.5 billion years ago are the sources of Earth's iron-loving materials.

From the above references it is clear that natural Iron found on earth was not actually formed on earth but came down to earth via meteorites and asteroids.
What does the Noble Qur’an say about Iron?
It is interesting to note that while God in the Noble Qur’an mentions about the origin of some created thing He usually uses the Arabic word “khalaq” meaning “created”, for instance let’s have a look at the following verses:
“Khalaqal Insaan (Created Man)” ;
~[al-Qur’an 55:3]
“Khalaq as-Samawaati wal-ard (created the heavens and earth)”;
~[al-Qur’an 17:99]
“Khalqnal Insaan min-nuftatin amshaaj (created man from a sperm-drop mixture)”;
~[al-Qur’an 76:2]
It is obvious that like every other created thing Iron was created by God but instead of saying “khalaqal hadid (Created Iron)”, God says “Anzalnal hadid (Sent down Iron)” in the following Ayah (verse):
“We (Allah) have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allah may make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.”
~[al-Qur’an 57:25]
The information that Iron was not formed on earth but was actually “sent down” was given by God in the Noble Qur’an more than 1400 years ago. This is one of the sign of the truth of Islam as God promises in the Qur’an:
“We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?”
~[al-Qur’an 41:53]
